Abinaya Sekar

Abinaya currently works as a Senior Research Associate at the Initiative on Climate, Energy and Environment at the Centre for Policy Research. She focuses on enabling policy-makers to make better policies by centering science and public engagement in air quality governance. She holds a BE degree in Civil Engineering from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai and a Masters in Environmental Engineering and Management from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore. In addition, she has also obtained her Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Law from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore. Abinaya has submitted her PhD thesis on “Perceived and actual risk due to air pollution – Analyses of selected cases from India” at the National Institute of Technology Calicut. Her research interest includes Air quality management, Human Health risk assessment, Environmental Law and Environmental Forensics. She has published her research findings in reputed International Journals. She is a core team member of a Thats My Child NGO based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, where she leads the school adoption projects.
